Invited by the “Future Vision Lab” project at C-LAB (Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab), I conducted talk sessions in Hualien and Taipei regarding my creative practice. During the stay, I also performed field recordings in Hualien, Taipei, and Keelung, capturing a diverse range of sounds unique to Taiwan.

barbe generative diary 以探索生成聲音藝術聞名，運用各種技術與科技創造身臨其境的沉浸式音頻體驗，例如使用接觸麥克風和水下麥克風，捕捉不同環境中的獨特聲音景觀。此外，他也擅長將當地聲音和環境融入他的作品之中，因此到世界各地取材與創作，並曾經於2023年來臺取材蒐集城市的聲音，並將聲音視覺化後分別創作成–「Insects in Taitung,Taiwan」、「“block city” Taipei, Taiwan」。

這次邀請其來台短期駐地於花蓮，不僅四處走訪、採集花蓮城市裡的聲音，也在這段時間以分享會的方式，與大家交流分享他的創作經驗、內容，以及這次駐地花蓮與採集的過程有沒有什麼有趣的發現！

[Artist Talk: barbe generative diary – Dec 15th, Hualien Residency Sharing]

Field recording has become an integral part of my daily life; it is not just about capturing environmental sounds, but recording the time, place, and the thoughts of the listener. I hope to provide an opportunity for people to discover the fascinating world of ‘sound’—a world often overlooked in our visually-dominated lives.” – barbe generative diary

Renowned for exploring generative sound art, barbe generative diary creates immersive audio experiences using various technologies, such as contact and hydrophone microphones to capture unique soundscapes. Skilled at integrating local environments into his work, he travels globally to gather material. His previous 2023 works, “Insects in Taitung” and “block city Taipei,” were born from his exploration of Taiwan’s urban sounds.

During this short-term residency in Hualien, he has been exploring the city to collect its unique sounds. In this upcoming talk session, he will share his creative process, experiences, and the intriguing discoveries made during his time in Hualien.
